Erasmus Mundus Master

JMD stands for “Joint Master’s Degree” in the context of the Erasmus Mundus programme. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) is a prestigious international study programme, funded by the European Commission, that offers fully-funded scholarships to outstanding students from around the world.

The JMD is a high-quality integrated international study programme, which is jointly delivered by a consortium of universities from at least three different European countries. The programme is designed to promote excellence in education and research through international cooperation, intercultural understanding, and the development of global skills.

The JMD programmes typically last two years, and include a mandatory study period in at least two different countries. The courses are taught in English, and the curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad and interdisciplinary understanding of their chosen field of study. Upon successful completion of the programme, students are awarded a joint degree from the consortium of universities.

TELME

Partners: Åbo Akademi (Finland); Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland); Université Rennes 2 (France); Universidad de Burgos (Spain); The University of Limerick (Ireland).

Aims: The Joint Master program the TELME project aims to recruit high quality students in Teaching foreign languages in a multicultural environment, organized in two academic years among six universities. The programme will teach future language teachers and professionals how to create and maintain an environment that encourages good interpersonal relations within a multicultural group. It aims to teach students to: 

  • understand the cultural diversity in the various cultural and ethnic groups and work within multicultural contexts; 
  • understand the influence of native languages (and other second languages) in learning a foreign language (interlanguage strategies); 
  • create a discrimination-free environment, opening up to different cultural backgrounds, languages, and ethnicities; 
  • foster tolerance and mutual respect within the class or group of learners; 
  • enhance skills in languages and applied linguistics; 
  • use ICT and blended teaching approaches.
